Practical issues
The merger would work as follows:
All players will be going over into either a Trial rank (for Hero rank which is the raiding rank) or to the Friend rank. The reason behind this is to ensure that players going into the Hero rank are geared, skilled and active. Other players will be asked to join the Friend rank. There is no requirement on members of the Friend rank to raid regularly, but if they are active and available and there is space for them within the Hero rank, they may be asked if they want to step up. These players will no doubt still have access to raids at varying levels, but the pressure on them should be less.
Be sure that the Officers know well who the valuable players are in this guild and will be striving to ensure that they are valued in FH too. If, however, you have not been pulling your weight here in Sanctity, then the combined FH-Officer group will make a judgement based on how you perform in FH alone. Every player agreed to a certain level of raiding when they joined Sanctity, but many have not met this agreement for various reasons. If you are in the group who has not been pulling its weight, with a very few exceptions you have only yourself to blame. This merger will mean that other players are no longer held back by this.
FH uses a dkp system. Be aware this will not be reset. However, having looked at their dkp logs, items are costing very little dkp and within a short time all players should have plenty of dkp with which to buy items. However, FH also insists that loot is distributed with an eye to fairness and in the best interests of the team. Dkp burning and loot alliances will not be tolerated. Equally members are expected to be aware of the gear needs of other players sharing their loot items and ensure that they don’t take a minor upgrade when it would be a major upgrade for another player. A raid is only as strong as its weakest member. And remember loot always drops again, and its normally cheaper the next time you buy it under a dkp system.
Raids would run as follows (with invites 15 mins before the start time):
- Wed 2000-2300
- Thur 1900-2300
- Sun 1900-2300
- Tue 2000-2300
Finally, officers will be Contacting a few players individually about this merger. These are players who we are concerned would not pass Trial for varying reasons, or players in classes about whom FH have made a specific request. There are very few of these players.
Some points to note about the merger
I want to point out that FH is about team players. One of the greatest disappointments to me in Sanctity has been a very few players who cannot grasp this concept. There are lots of players in the guild who can and they will find FH an excellent opportunity for them. However, there are also a small number of players for whom this is not the way they think. They will find life in FH quite hard. However, it is that attitude that makes FH a good community and allows them to progress. This was always where Sanctity was heading and if you cannot manage under this system then ultimately you would have worn out your welcome here. I am emphasising this point heavily because I expect players moving over to show FH that they are the kind of quality players who will make the merged guild a good place to be and raid.
If you want to know which group you are likely to end up in, those players gaining Hero rank quickly will likely be:
- Well geared
- Skilled
- Know their class well
- Active
- Able to understand that loot should go where it is most useful which is not always to them
- Able to understand that raiding is about more than just them getting loot
- Able to understand that choices will be made for the good of the raid and not the individual
- Complains about the loot system when they don’t get loot
- Complained endlessly about not getting loot as a trialist
- Complains about not getting raid slots
- Likes to slack online even when the raid needs them
- Does not want to be swapped out when another class is needed more than you
- Does not care about the other players in your guild, other than how they support you to raid
In addition, people who want the Hero rank will be expected to show they can perform in raids. This does not mean simple dps output. It means listening to instructions and acting on them, being prepared with consumables and tactics, reacting to changing situations and demonstrating a positive attitude in raids. People who fail consistently to show these may be asked to accept a Friend rank or to leave if the problem is serious. FH has an emphasis in quality raids - players will not be boosted or rewarded for poor performance and it is up to the individual to show what they are capable of. I will say honestly that the Sancity Officers feel that all these are things that every player we suggest for the Trial rank should be capable of. Nothing here is outside the Sanctity raid rules and expectations. The fact is we have been poor an enforcing this because we have not had the players to replace someone doing poorly most of the time. This will not be the case in the combined FH guild.
Obviously, as with any merger, there is a chance this will not work out. The Sanctity guild will not be closed and its gbank will remain in stasis until we are sure this is going to move forward successfully. There is absolutely the chance to go back.
If you feel you are not interested in the merger, please talk to an officer. I can recommend a number of other friendly guilds where you might find yourself a welcome depending on what level of activity you are looking for. In some cases I know the GM personally and can talk to him on your behalf.
For anyone not online at the time of the merger, please whisper Renalds, Morrighan, Alaka or Morningblade for an invite.
